A Rememberance for Clay

A celebration of life was held on August 31, 2008 in Lander, Wyoming. It was a beautiful day and many great folks were able to attend and help us remember a life well lived.

Some fun stories were told and if you have any additional stories involving Clay and his "whacky ways" we'd love to have you share them on this blog.

Here is a meditation prayer which beautifully summarizes our (and Clay's) wishes for all who were part of the celebration and read this blog.

May all beings be happy, content and fulfilled.
May all beings be healed and whole.
May all have whatever they want and need.
May all be protected from harm and free from fear.
May all beings enjoy inner peace and ease.
May all be awakened, liberated and free.

May there be peace in the world, and throughout the universe.

Stars, Clay, Stars

I keep thinking I have so much to tell Clay when he comes home. Like how all the communities of people we love are united together during this most horrible of times. It's always been a dream of ours to get all our friends from around the world together. Clay, it's happening. They're here. Some in spirit, some in body. And it's incredible. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all for everything you've done, from prayers and meditations, emails, phone calls, helping search, taking care of me ... there are no words for my appreciation. I couldn't survive this without you all.

It's a brilliantly clear night tonight. Look, Clay! Stars! Stars, Clay, stars!

Rachel--we are miles and years apart, but know that I share your heartache. Allow those of us who love you and Clay to shoulder some of the sorrow for it is certainly too much to bear alone. As I look at the stars tonight, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, I will send a hug across the country.

Rachel,

Our silence, so far, is simply for a lack of words. There is not a minute that we are not thinking about you and Clay. We keep searching for something that we cannot describe to share with you. We know that it is important. ...or maybe it is just a big hug!

We will figure it out when the time is right.

All our love,

Bob & Wendy

Rachel,
We in New Jersey have you and Clay in our prayers always. Our churches in our surrounding area including Charlie's church pray for you as do our parishioners. We have people as far as Ohio praying for you and Clay on their prayer lists.

Words just do not come. We remember hearing about your wonderful wedding and from the pictures your folks sent you both looked so happy and in love. Keep those memories.

We all send hugs to you. It is hard to believe that all of this is real! Like other people you are in our thoughts always. Blessed are the people who are helping with the search. Your friends sound wonderful. In the twinkling of an eye it seems he has vanished. Stay strong Rachel and know that we all send our love and prayers. If we can be of any help please let us know.

Love,
Charlie & Janet

This has all been very hard to digest, let alone verbalize Rachel.
Again, I can't say much except that I'm very sorry, and I hope there will be an eventual solution, and some peace for you.

Hi Rachel,

I just found out today from Arno about Clay. I am speechless...My last email from Clay was in September. He was so excited to go to Lander. Please let me know if there is anything we can do from afar. We in Colorado are thinking and praying for his safe return.

Hugs,

Rachel,

You haven't left my thoughts for even a moment. My heart is so sick that this is happening to you. Although I don't know Clay extremely well, I love him for making you so happy. Even the couple of times we did meet I knew there was something very special. I hope you can keep looking at the stars and remember the joy you two have shared. I'm sending my hugs to you now and always!
Love,
Jenny
